Feb 2. This post below has been sitting around for a while now. I have another post about what we’ve been up to since the 26th including a trip to Mexico but I don’t have pictures uploaded. This connection is very touché. I have to be on the roof near the front of the bus to make it work, and even then it intermittently disconnects. And, now that my laptop battery dies after about 10 minutes it’s kind of tricky getting everything to work at once! But anyway, we are in Alamo, TX at the moment if anyone is wondering and looking to be in Port Isabel tomorrow morning. It’s been in the 60’s and really nice and warm in the sun.

Date: January 26th
Place: Leaving Corpus Christi, TX
Time: 1741

We’ve had a very nice time in Texas. We left Houston yesterday with our dear sweet friends and drove in to Corpus Christi.

But, before we left Houston we sang! It was an very, very small group of people but they were happy to have us.

Thanks to Anna Pederson of the Pederson family for taking pictures.

Hannah being caught in the act of smiling! :D

Bonnie was a trooper on this song. She retuned while singing. Good job, Bonnie!

Photobucket

This is Bonnie singing I Have Decided To Follow Jesus, in Spanish!

Photobucket

On our way out of Houston we stopped to make arrangements. (Like our bumper sticker? :D) This office building was impressive!

Photobucket

Bonnie got a shot of ‘us’ from the road. J

We arrived safely in CC early that evening. We hung out with friends and had supper together. Fourteen people hanging out in our bus! Not a whole lot of extra room there. : )

The next morning we got a chance to see our bus from the 11th floor of the nearly hotel.

Photobucket

Wow. It’s a long way down folks!

Of course, Bonnie and Carol were goofy and wanted their picture taken looking scared.

Photobucket

The elevator was too much fun to resist taking a picture of.

(We’re sure are making up for the previous photo lacking posts. :-P )

Bonnie and Carol decided, after they safely made it off the 11th floor, to explore Corpus from the ground.

They came across a lot of war/pow/mia memorials. There has been so much sacrificed for our country. Please, don’t let the USA be destroyed from within. Vote for someone in the up coming presidential election who will begin to bring America back from the edge of economic and social collapse. (If you need any help with information about Ron Paul, feel free to ask. :D)

The boats were cool. No swimming signs abounded. They have lots of Man O’ War jellyfish here, as well as sharks.

Photobucket

They came across the ‘art gallery’ and the door was open so they waltzed in and took a picture or two.

Photobucket

There is a lot of Catholic influence here. They walked down the main (kinda crummy looking) street up the hill to the cathedral. After they got on top of the hill….

Photobucket

“Can you see the bus from here, Bonnie?”

They found a dead cockroach on the way back to the bus. Bleh. Speaking of cockroaches - how many cockroaches does it take to change a light bulb? Well, we don’t know. As soon as you turn the light on they all scatter! Bad joke….ok, mooooving on. J

Later, around lunch time, the family traveled down the road to see one of the coolest ships they had ever seen.

It’s the USS Lexington!

(this was a shot from the bridge in the bus, hence the tinted window)

This was a very cool bit of sight seeing for us. We arrived in time to see the IMAX presentation of “Fighter Pilot.”

Photobucket

It was seriously awesome! If you get a chance to watch it, you will not be disappointed.

Before we got in the theater we spent time looking at the displays on the hanger deck.

Daniel was in the brig in short order. ;-)

Photobucket

They had a few engines lying around….

Photobucket

It felt like a building inside. Almost like a mall. The bottom of the boat is filled with sand so it is definitely stationary.

Up a few flights of stairs we visited the main open deck. That was filled with fighter planes! Our personal tour guide was very informative.

Would anyone like to caption these pictures?

They had guns on this ship. Not working now, of course. ; )

Photobucket

Photobucket

Ahh! Looking down the business end!

The head room was fairly low in spots, the doorways in particular. Edit: I have a picture but it’s not uploaded.

They had models of ships, one of which was 30+ feet long.

Photobucket

This room is where the pilots gathered.

There are so many pictures. I think I’m going to stop here for now. Overall we had a very nice time. We were glad to reach (some of us faster then others!) the bus again after all that walking. : ) We had to say goodbye to our friends, though. : ( See you all next time, Lord willing!

That brings us up to our current location, a rest area somewhere between Corpus and Brownsville. Wifi is non existent and we don’t expect find any in our current parking spot.

We thank the Lord for His steadfast traveling mercies and grace to deal with each area of our lives. May we all be drawing closer each day to the King of Kings.

Hi! What great pictures! I was sorry to miss your concert in Houston, but hopefully you'll be back before too long.

We went to see the U.S.S. Lexington several years ago, and we really enjoyed it too. Seeing your photos brings back memories. I would never want to live on a war ship, but it sure was fascinating.
